Voz pasiva

Template Special

Passive voice (ser + participle)

This is a construction, not a conjugation family. No standard conjugation table applies.

How the passive is formed

The Spanish passive voice is formed with ser + past participle (e.g. La carta fue escrita — The letter was written). Tense is expressed by conjugating ser; the participle agrees in number and gender with the subject.

Conjugate ser for each tense, then add the past participle of the main verb. See the ser model for ser conjugations and compound tenses for participle formation.

Example verbs in passive

Any verb can form the passive with ser + participle. Common examples: escribir (escrito), hacer (hecho), decir (dicho), ver (visto).

Verbs are not listed under this template because the passive is a construction applied to any verb, not a conjugation family.
